Bridges to visit in Castellón
Some of the best bridges in Valencia can be found in Castellón, its most northerly province. We’d definitely recommend Santa Quiteria Bridge, which spans the Mijares River between Almassora and Vila-real. Also known as the Roman bridge, it was built in the 13th century and stands as a spectacular example of gothic architecture.
Another fantastic option, set in an evocative landscape perfect for a hiking getaway, is the Maravillas bridge in Vistabella del Maestrat. If you want a snap for your Instagram profile, then you won’t find a more photogenic bridge than this.
Bridges to visit in Valencia
Heading south, the Province of Valencia is home to some of the region’s best-known bridges, notably the suspension bridges of Chulilla and tho network of bridges in the city of València, crossing the famous Jardin del Túria (Turia Garden). In Chulilla, you’ll cross a deep river canyon — an exciting activity that’s also perfectly safe to do with kids. Trust us, the views will be worth it.
As for the bridges in the city of València, you’ll find 18 iconic constructions, each very different, all built over the ancient Turia river that has now been transformed into a garden. It’s a great theme for a walking tour— or if you prefer, you can rent a bike and glide from one to the next.
Bridges to visit in Alicante
Our list of the best bridges in Valencia wouldn’t be complete without a stop in Alcoy, a city surrounded by deep ravines. When you’re there, be sure to photograph the art-deco architecture of the San Jorge Bridge over the Barxell River!
And ginally, we suggest a hiking trip through the Mascarat Canyon in Altea, where you’ll come across several beautiful bridges spanning the gorge that separates the Sierra de Bernia and the Sierra de Toix.
That’s what we would do. Now, what about you? Why not plan your own route around the bridges of Valencia - whether you like ancient architectural gems or modern marvels, you’ll find your dream crossing here.
