The Gothic architecture in València has gifted the city with plenty of architectural gems. The magnificent gates of the old walled city, Quart and Serranos Towers, are certainly a highlight. And make sure to visit Almudín, the elegant Medieval grain warehouse.
Add Miguelete Tower to your list of Gothic landmarks in València and admire the cathedral’s ornate Door of the Apostles up close. Finish your Gothic tour by stepping inside Lonja de la Seda, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that is well worth a look.
We continue our journey through València’s Baroque, Gothic and Art Nouveau periods to explore the Baroque buildings in the city. To begin with, let’s make our way back to the cathedral to admire its majestic Wrought-Iron Gate, then head to Marqués de Dos Aguas Palace, which also boasts a rather impressive entrance. We also recommend stopping by the old Carmen Convent, which puts on interesting exhibitions, and the grand building that today is home to València’s Fine Arts Museum.
Let’s now move forward in time to the Art Nouveau era and spend some time in Valencia’s seaside neighbourhoods. First, wander into the port warehouses to admire their Art Nouveau features, then to the Clock Building next door. Or, during your sightseeing tour, you can do a spot of shopping and step inside Central Market; its architectural beauty and local delicacies on offer are worth the visit. Colón Market is also a fine example of Art Nouveau design, and now serves as a glamorous leisure and food hall.
