Have you ever heard of Palacio del Marqués de Dos Aguas? Take your time to look around this historic building to soak up all its artistry.

Palacio del Marqués de Dos Aguas dates back to the 18th century. The ancestral home of the Rabassa de Perellós family, which held the title of the Marquis of Dos Aguas, is located in València. It was Giner Rabassa, the third Marquis, who decided to renovate the house to showcase the family’s power. The result is the palace that you can see today.

With a quadrangular and irregular plan, the building centres around a patio. The palace is defined by the towers on its corners and the impressively decorated main door, which is made out of alabaster, and topped with a sculpture of Virgen del Rosario. Over the course of the 19th century, significant renovations were made, giving the palace an eclectic look, combining elements from the Rococo and New Imperialism styles as well as Chinese-inspired patterns.

When you step inside the palace, which is open to the public, you will see extravagant carriages dating back to the 18th century as well as 19th-century rooms whose original decoration has been meticulously restored. In the year 1941, the palace was declared an Historic and Artistic Monument and just a few years later it was purchased by the Ministry of Education, which decided to house the Museo Nacional de Cerámica, the national ceramics museum, here. Come to Palacio del Marqués de Dos Aguas to be transported back in time and marvel at exhibitions of ceramics dating from different time periods. The palace is open from Tuesday to Sunday. So what are you waiting for? Put it on your to-visit list and start getting excited about gazing at all of its artistry.
