Every September, Sueca, a town in the province of Valencia, celebrates the grain it is best known for – rice. Fiesta del Arroz, the Rice Festival, is a festival of such significance that it has been listed an Event of Tourist Interest.

The festival programme is jam-packed with all sorts of events and activities. There’s a paella competition, for instance, which sees chefs from all four corners of the world compete to make the best rice dish.
