When are the traditional San Roque festivities in Alicante?

These festivities take place during the second week of August in one of Alicante's most iconic neighborhoods. Their origin dates back to 1559, and they officially begin with a lively parade, traditional dance performances in Plaza del Puente, and the long-awaited opening speech.

Throughout the traditional San Roque festivities, residents and visitors participate in a wood-fired paella competition, parades with brass bands, and the fun water tradition known as La banyà. The days conclude with religious acts, leading to a final night of togetherness with a communal dinner and a popular street party.
