From the 22 to 25 April, the streets of Banyeres de Mariola welcome Fiesta de Moros y Cristianos, Moors and Christians Festival, in honour of San Jorge. The many organised acts will fill the streets with a flurry of colour, great costumes and some of the best music.

On the 22, catch a glimpse of the music bands’ parade and the ofrenda, a touching traditional flower offering ceremony. In the evening, the Entrada parade with carnival troupes and bands in costume will excite the crowds, and then it's time for La retreta, a dramatic torchlit parade. La diana procession is held early the next morning on the 23, and on the 24, get ready for the "dia dels trons" re-enactment, in which the castle is conquered and comedy acts are performed. On the final day, the 25, a moving tribute is made to the festival people who are no longer with us, followed by an outdoor Mass. Celebrate this unique tradition with the locals and feel like one of them in no time!
