More information

The Valencian Paper Museum is located in Banyeres de Mariola, specifically in the main building of Villa Rosario Park. Opened in 1997, the museum opens its doors to locals and visitors to explain the history and the tradition of paper making in Banyeres de Mariola.

Banyeres de Mariola is home to great heritage sites. During the period when the town made rolling paper, the municipality was the second largest producer in Spain, with up to 14 active paper mills, many of which are still standing. Paper is an essential part of local history and this museum pays tribute to it and preserves its memory.

The Valencian Paper Museum is divided into a number of floors. In the basement, there is a workshop where paper was made by hand. On the first floor, you will discover where paper comes from and how it was made. The second floor has a large collection of rolling paper as well as a selection of festive dress made entirely out of paper. Lastly, the top floor is used for temporary exhibitions as well as screenings and talks.

If you’re wondering what to do in Banyeres de Mariola, visiting the museums is always a great way to spend your time. Come along to soak up the history and culture, and you’ll head back home having learnt something new.
