Things to do in Bigastro

Wandering Bigastro’s steep and narrow streets is a joy. Before you know it, you’ll be at Plaza de la Constitución, from where you can make your way to Nuestra Señora de Belén Parish Church, a place of worship dating back to the 18th century that is well worth a visit. The three naves are home to fascinating Baroque sculptures, including one depicting San Joaquín.

Next stop on your explorations is Huerto del Cura park where you can unwind for a while or watch shows, like the al fresco concerts, that are held here. Keep walking and you’ll notice that part of the town sits on a hill. Climb up to the highest part to breathe in great views that will get you reaching for your camera: don’t forget to bring it with you. An additional 20-minute walk will lead you to El Cerro de Bigastro Viewing Point, which is a great activity to enjoy with the kids.

Venture outside the centre of Bigastro to visit La Pedrera Recreational Area, close to which is a campsite. The area has picnic tables and places to have a barbecue or cook your paella. There’s also an outdoor pool and a children’s playpark

If you fancy doing some hiking while you’re in Bigastro, make your way to La Loma Ancha nature area where leafy, shaded areas alternate with semi-arid landscapes home to interesting biodiversity. So how about it? Come and visit this pretty town on your next getaway.
