Take a stroll around Jardines de Peñacerrada in Mutxamel to gaze at beautiful trees and stone columns.

Jardines de Peñacerrada is one of the most iconic historic residences in Huerta de l'Alacantí. The grounds occupy almost 2 hectares with 10,000m dedicated to gardens and 17,250m used as agricultural land. The grounds feature different styles of garden, including French, English and Italian.

The French garden can be identified by its low parterres arranged in a symmetrical fashion. Facing the palacio façade is a pyramid-shaped myrtle and cypresses shaped to form a pretty arch.

The English garden is Romanesque in style and defined by two artificial mounds connected via a bridge, a turret and Casa de la Vieja. The Italian garden, meanwhile, features eight stone columns and a cypress maze where you can have fun getting lost.

You will also see a fourth style in the garden: Hispano-Arab, which is characterised by a series of canals used for irrigation purposes.

As you stroll through Palacio y Jardín de Peñacerrada, before too long you will come across Casa de los Niños, a nursery and other places of interest. The Mutxamel-based garden is currently open to the public so don’t miss the opportunity to visit this Site of Cultural Interest where you can unwind, enjoy the beautiful scenery and find a moment of peace and quiet. Just remember that the gardens only open on Sundays.
