The most difficult hole on the course is the 9th, a par 4 with a handicap of 1. Success on this hole depends on a good tee shot, ideally sticking to the right of the fairway.

The tee shot is so important because unexpected problems can crop up on either side of the fairway. If all goes well, you should be nicely placed for your second shot to reach the green, which is guarded by bunkers. Struck well, it is a beautiful shot across a water hazard, though not everyone chooses to go for it, and amateurs will usually be pleased with a par or bogey.

The course was officially opened in 1988 by Juan de Borbón, Count of Barcelona, and every year a tournament bearing his name is played, in commemoration of his support for golf in Spain.
