This July, Pego council is running Itinerario Ornitológico Bullent, a tour that will take you on an exploration of the varied bird and wildlife in La Marina Alta and La Safor counties. The itinerary has four destinations. First, you will travel to Muntanyeta Verda to see the birds that stop off at the Marjal de Pego-Oliva wetlands, followed by the river Salinar, where you will explore the rice fields, which are an essential area for birdlife. Then, at Sant Pere you will see the marshland vegetation that is home to many water birds and finally at the river Bullent you might just be lucky enough to spot a Samaruc, a small fish that is at risk of extinction.
