What to do in Alcudia de Veo

During our stay in this area we will come across four small villages: Alcudia de Veo, Veo and Benitandús - all inhabited - and Jinquer, an abandoned village that no longer has any habitants. Let’s begin our adventure with a visit to Jinquer - La Almenarilla Memorial Site. Observe the remains of Jinquer/Xinquer Castle and go on a wander through the chestnut tree forest where you’ll stumble upon the abandoned village of Jinquer, an old settlement that conjures the perfect atmosphere for taking striking photos. .

From there you can check out "Las Dos Tetas", also known as La Almenarilla, which forms the remains of a defence line from the Spanish Civil War. Inform yourself in its turbulent past by reading the information panels on display and admire the incredible views while you’re up there.

Alcudia de Veo Castle is another site we recommend visiting as it is less than a ten-minute walk from the centre of the village. Keep walking and you’ll get to Benitandús which is home to Órganos de Benitandús, a spectacular rock formation that looks over a small reservoir.

Another way to get to know Alcudia de Veo is by following routes GR 36 or GR 333, these two trails take you through the delightful countryside. Or you can spend a day exploring natural sites such as El Toro Cave and Chelva Pond or Cuatro Caminos Icehouse. For a more challenging walk, climb up to the two highest mountain peaks: Rápita and Pico Espadán to give your wild side a taste of adventure. Do you want to see all this in person and more?
