Discover a landmark in Torreblanca that has stood facing the sea for centuries, bearing witness to the town’s long history.

The Torre Nostra, Nostra Tower in Torreblanca, Castellón, was built in the 17th century and played a key role in the coastal defence system. Today it forms part of the local landscape and is an essential stop on any visit. Below, we take a closer look at its background and main features.

What to see in Torreblanca: The Nostra Tower

The Nostra Tower stands right on the seafront, between the Mediterranean and the Albalat lagoon. Originally known as Torre Nueva, this solid, square-plan structure is notable for its one-metre-thick walls and its height of nine metres. The original design included cylindrical machicolations at each corner and a reinforced entrance door clad with iron plates.

Inside, the tower was arranged over four levels connected by a spiral staircase, allowing for constant surveillance of the coastline and protection against seaborne attacks. Although the tower is now fully integrated into the surrounding urban area, it remains the historic landmark from which the present-day seaside settlement takes both its origin and its name. A true jewel from the past!
