Multimedia Gallery

Among its many other points of interest, Vilafamés has an incredible contemporary art gallery where you can see the work of creators who have shaped the history of art.

Housed in Palau del Batlle, Museu d'Art Contemporani in Vilafamés (MACVAC) boasts a large collection of artwork with stand-out pieces from greats such as Picasso, Oswaldo Guayasamín and Joan Miró, as well as other creators who have made a mark on the world of art.

The contemporary art gallery was founded in 1969 and has been housed in Palau del Batlle since 1972. A fine example of Valencian Gothic architecture, the 15th century building is a work of art in itself. Inside, the collection counts over 700 pieces of art, offering a vision of the diverse media and formats favoured by the artists who have shaped the national and international artistic scene.

Museu d'Art Contemporani is a truly unique art gallery as the artists donate or loan their pieces for display. None of the collection is purchased, resulting in fluid and dynamic exhibitions that delight visitors.

This incredible gallery is located in Vilafamés, one of the most beautiful villages in Spain, which is famed for its Moorish castle, the traditional houses clinging to the hilltop and the cave art discovered in a rock shelter close to the castle.

MACVAC is a must-visit during your time in Vilafamés. Fortunately, once the museum fatigue sets in, you can regain your strengths with a visit to a winery, or a lunch of arroz al horno cooked inside a pumpkin or a hearty dish of olleta. Make sure you leave some room for coca molla too, which you can pick up at the local bakeries. What are you waiting for? Start planning your getaway today.
