Tuéjar's festivities in honour of the town's patron saint, Virgen de la Inmaculada, have what are known as “special editions”. Every five years, on years ending with a 0 or a 5, the celebrations really step up a gear, turning into Fiestas Gordas. And they are well worth the wait.

Expect plenty of religious fervour when the image of the Virgen is transferred from the chapel to the church. Another moment when emotions run high is entramoro, an entrada of the Moors, a dramatic spectacle which enacts a great battle and the period when the Moors and Christians lived together. And that’s not all. You can also see rodà de la bandera, an event that revolves around the flag. So what are you waiting for?
