What to see in Benissuera

Among the many splendid buildings in Benissuera, Bellvís Castle Palace and San José Parish Church are two of the finest. Lovingly preserved, the grand palace is a great example of Medieval defense architecture.

Overlooking a pretty plaza, San José Parish Church was built between the 18th and 19th centuries. The houses in this area feature charming traditional façades and are swept up in a pleasant, rustic atmosphere.

For the next part of the tour around Benissuera, we recommend putting on some comfy walking shoes or hopping on a bicycle. Set off along the many country trails that weave through expanses of patchwork farmland. Benissuera is on the Ruta Els Quatre Pobles del Riu, the Four River Towns Route, which connects Alfarrasí, Benissuera, Sempere and Guadasséquies.

Along the way, you’ll come across information panels that offer an insight into the local history and key places to visit along the Quatre Pobles irrigation canal. The gentle country trail gives you the chance to explore the scenic surroundings of the Bellús Reservoir.

To round off the trip, we recommend spending some time in “El Flautí” recreational area, where you can have a barbecue or even cook a paella while the kids enjoy playing on the swings.
