Ermita de San Jaime el Mayor, San Jaime el Mayor Chapel in Bocairent, stands proudly, surrounded by the stunning Sierra de Mariola mountains, as a place where nature and history converge. The journey to it is part of its charm: crossing Sant Blai bridge, passing by Hombre de la Manta monument and strolling along a paved path with breathtaking views of Bocairent and the surrounding mountains.

Built in the 16th century, the chapel’s stone façade features a tile altarpiece of the saint, crowned by a bell tower with a bell and an iron cross. The building has a single nave and is in the Gothic style.

San Jaime el Mayor Chapel is dedicated to Bocairent’s first patron saint, offering a peaceful retreat where you can pause and enjoy the tranquillity of the surroundings. Nearby, there’s a cool spring and a shaded area with pine and oak trees. On the 1 May, the pilgrimage fills the place with music, fireworks and camaraderie, turning it into a lively and heartwarming gathering spot.
