Did you know that on the last Wednesday of August, the streets of Buñol are filled with visitors from all four corners of the world who are geared up to – wait for it – throw tomatoes at each other? An organised food fight, La Tomatina de Buñol is a one-of-a-kind Event of International Tourist Interest that takes over the town for a couple of hours.

The rules are simple. Show your ticket to get into the designated fight area, making sure you’ve left all your personal belongings somewhere safe. It’s highly recommended that you wear goggles. After, follow the organisers’ instructions to make sure you’re at the right place at 12am when the trucks loaded with thousands of kilos of tomatoes come in. And then, get ready for battle, throwing tomatoes at anyone around you and having a whole lot of fun. How could you possibly miss it?
