Discover a piece of Silla’s history, in Valencia, by visiting this ancient 11th-century Muslim tower.

La Torre de Silla, Tower of Silla in Valencia, is of Muslim origin and was built between the 11th and 12th centuries. It is a magnificent example of medieval military architecture, built to control and defend València's agricultural lands.

Once a refuge for inhabitants of the surrounding area, written evidence of its existence has been documented as far back as 1238.

In the 14th century, it was reinforced with a defensive wall and moat, the remains of which are still visible today. It became known as a castle and served as a prison and communal granary. After centuries of neglect, this Muslim tower in Silla was restored in 1984 and now houses the Silla Museum of History and Archaeology. It is a place steeped in history that is well worth a visit!
