Fallas de València is getting ready to fill the city with the most thrilling atmosphere once again. This celebration, which has been listed as an Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO, comes with a full programme of things you can’t miss. Visit the city on these dates and see it come alive with lights, explosions and fiesta.

It begins with one of the most exciting moments of the festival, the "Crida" - a call out by the Falleras Mayores to announce the start, with an incredible light and sound show at the Torres Serrano.

From the 25 February until the 19 March, a loud and boisterous pyrotechnic display called a mascletà takes place everyday at 2pm in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento. They use heaps of fire and gunpowder to create contagious rhythms that shake the earth and delight the crowd. On the 2 March, it’s time for the Cabalgata del Ninot, a parade in which the figures (ninots) that make up the larger Fallas sculptures are shown off, and the day after is the Cant de l'Estoreta competition. And don’t get startled by the mascletàs that take place during the night.

Next on the 14, the children’s ninots are collected, with the lucky chosen one put aside and therefore saved from a fiery end. The day after, the children’s fallas - sculptures - are set up in the street and the ninots of the big fallas are collected, plus a short sigh of relief for the one saved.

All the fallas will be set up on the 16, and that night we’ll be treated to the first fireworks display - or castillo - of the festival in the Jardín del Túria, by Palau de les Arts at midnight. On the 17, there’ll be another midnight fireworks display and prizes will be awarded, as well as the typical and most beautiful part of the festival, la ofrenda, will be underway all afternoon. At this event, hundreds of falleros carry flowers as an offering to Mare de Déu. La ofrenda will continue the following day, gradually forming a stunning flower tapestry in front of the cathedral, and yet another castillo - Nit del Foc, this time at 1.30am, will dazzle the crowds. Everything builds up to the 19, with the most exciting night of them all - the cremà. This is a mass burning ritual, where hundreds of fallas are set alight all around the street. Put on your comfy shoes and prepare yourself for the madness!
