Las Fiestas de Moros y Cristianos, the Moors and Christians festival in Alcoy, recognised as being of International Tourist Interest, is one of the most spectacular celebrations in the Region of Valencia. Head to this remarkable city and see for yourself how it is transformed.
When is the Moors and Christians festival in Alcoy?
The festival is generally held in April, close to Saint George’s Day on the 23rd. The festive cycle begins with La Gloria, the official proclamation, and continues with Día dels Músics. The Trilogía brings to life the grand Moorish and Christian parades, the day dedicated to Saint George and the thunderous Alardo, where arquebus battles and the embassies shape the struggle for the castle. The final highlight is the appearance of Saint George above the battlements, it's a singular moment steeped in tradition. Come and take in the costumes, the fireworks and the brass band music that fills every corner.
