The Iglesia Parroquial de la Purísima Xiqueta y San Pedro Apóstol, the Parish Church of La Purísima Xiqueta and Saint Peter the Apostle, is a Neo-Gothic church in Benissa that opened in 1929, replacing the town’s former fortified church.

Popularly known as “the cathedral of La Marina”, the church is notable for its three-nave layout, its imposing central crossing tower and its design inspired by French Gothic architecture. Work is now under way to complete the original architectural vision by adding seventeen-metre pinnacles to its bell towers, bringing them to a total height of thirty-two metres. Inside, the altar houses a reliquary containing a painted panel attributed to the school of Juan de Juanes.
