Convento de la Purísima, La Purísima Convent, is a fortified Franciscan convent in Benissa which was founded in 1611. This landmark is well worth checking out.

What to see at La Purísima Convent in Benissa

Built in a restrained Renaissance style, with thick, solid walls, the convent once served as a stronghold against pirate attacks. Also known as Benissa Convent or the Convent of the Immaculate Conception, the complex stands out for its Herrerian-influenced façade and altarpiece-style entrance. Inside, it preserves an important collection of religious art, liturgical objects and pieces from the former Seraphic College. Although the building is not currently open to visitors, its exterior, surrounded by well-kept gardens and panoramic views, remains a peaceful place to admire.
