Make time on your Calp itinerary to visit this historic fortified farmhouse.

La Casa Nova, in Calp, Alicante, is a fortified farmhouse of considerable historical and architectural interest, overlooking the Pou Roig ravine. Thought to date from the late 17th or early 18th century, it combines living quarters with working areas such as a wine press, olive mill, animal pens and stables.

La Casa Nova in Calp has a rectangular shape and is built over three floors. The ground floor included the kitchen, a bedroom and stables. The first floor contained the main living rooms, while the top floor was used to store crops.

Key features include the large windows on the main floor, the rounded stone entrance and a small defensive structure designed to protect the house. The main façade faces the town, while the other sides have very few openings. The building is finished with a simple classical cornice beneath its pitched roof.

Walking through La Casa Nova offers a step back in time and a chance to understand everyday domestic and agricultural life in centuries past. A worthwhile addition to any visit to Calp.
