The party begins on Palm Sunday and ends on Easter Sunday, the day the famous "Encuentro" is held. At present, Easter in Pego is made up of ten steps or images, which by customary order in the processional hierarchy are the following: the "Junks" Cross, the Garden Prayer, the Christ of the Column, the Ecce-Homo, the Jesus of Medinaceli, the Virgin of Sorrows, the Jesus of Nazarene, the Veronica, the Christ of Providence and Piety. Another really admirable and particular image is that of the Holy Sepulcher, which replaces that of Ecce-Homo on Good Friday night. On Holy Wednesday the traditional "Salpassa" continues to be celebrated, although distorted by time, without losing its charm of presence within the religious festival.
