Join in these lively celebrations like a local. Come and discover our traditions!

From 11 to 20 July, San Vicente del Raspeig, Alicante, celebrates its traditional Bonfires and Barracks Festival. Since 1947, the celebration has commemorated St John's Day through ‘fogueriles’, which are monuments combining art, satire and creativity.

During these festivities in San Vicente del Raspeig, each district chooses its bellea del foc mayor e infantil (queen and princess of the bonfires) and their ladies-in-waiting. Then events such as the plantà de hogueras y barracas (setting up of the bonfires and barracks), the Ofrenda de Flores al Patrón (offering of flowers to the patron saint), parades, mascletàs (firecracker displays) and dances take place.

The streets are decorated after months of preparation, and the barracas and bonfires of San Vicente del Raspeig become meeting points for music, gastronomy and conviviality. The festival culminates with the gran cremà, a fire show that closes the celebration, giving way to a new festive cycle. Experience the Bonfires and Barracas Festival like a local and feel the tradition in every corner of the town!
