You probably already know that the Region of Valencia has plenty of cinematic scenery, but did you know that we’ve been used as the filming locations for high level productions? Discover everything you need to know.
Have you ever wondered where films and TV series have been filmed in the Region of Valencia? We’ve put together this cinematic tour so you can discover the film locations across the provinces of Castellón, Valencia and Alicante.
Cinematic routes in the province of Castellón
Our journey through the Region of Valencia’s film locations begins in La Vall d'Uixó and Castellón de la Plana, where Alejandro Suárez’s Kepler 6B was shot.
That said, the quintessential filming location in the province of Castellón is Peñíscola. This coastal town has hosted scenes for shows like Game of Thrones, El chiringuito de Pepe, El barco, filmed at the coves lining Sierra de Irta, and The Ministry of Time. It has also appeared in films such as Berlanga’s The Rocket from Calabuch and París-Tombuctú, and Anthony Mann’s El Cid.
And that’s not all. Chilches was the backdrop for the series Paraíso, and renowned director Ken Loach filmed Land and Freedom in the northern part of the province of Castellón.

Next, we’re heading to the province of Valencia, where you can visit the town of Paterna, the filming spot for Pedro Almodóvar’s Pain and Glory (2018), which introduced the world to the stunning urban landscape of its cave-houses.
Naturally, Ciutat de les Arts i les Ciències has appeared as the future in the iconic British series Doctor Who, and has been visited by the casts of Westworld, Brave New World and Tomorrowland.
Finally, L’Albufera Natural Park was the perfect setting for Álex Pina’s series El Embarcadero. We highly encourage you to visit these film locations in the Region of Valencia.
Filming locations in the province of Alicante
Lastly, let’s explore the filming locations in Alicante. Santa Bárbara Castle was the setting for Count Dracula’s walk in the 1970 version of Dracula, which also had a sequel, Dracula vs. Frankenstein. It also served as a backdrop for the 1973 film The Three Musketeers, which was also filmed in Dénia.
The castle is undeniably an iconic, cinematic location in Alicante, and the list continues with films like La dama boba, Asterix at the Olympic Games, Journey to Bethlehem and Alejandro Amenábar’s The Captive. Come and visit these charming locations in person!
