Culture, history and gastronomy come together at Fiestas de Santa Quiteria, the biggest festival in Almassora which celebrates the town’s patron saint. Learn more!

On the 22 May each year, Almassora celebrates its patron saint festival. In honour of Santa Quiteria, the festivities last for a full week, featuring activities and events that get the whole community involved.

Santa Quiteria starts on the weekend before the 22 May with a pilgrimage to the chapel and the pregón, the official inauguration of the celebrations. Leading up to the big day, there are live music performances by Spanish and international artists, firework displays, kids workshops and games, sports competitions, a gourmet food market, and more.

Gastronomy is, indeed, one of the most popular parts of the festival. Calderas de Santa Quiteria sees large pots of rice being shared out among celebrators. Over 6,000 people flock to the town for a taste. No surprise then, that the festival has been listed an event of provincial tourist interest.

Take part in Fiestas de Santa Quiteria for an authentic experience of the traditions that are still very much alive in the Region of Valencia.
