Museo de Bellas Artes de Castellón is located in the city of Castelló de la Plana. Designed by Mansilla y Tuñón Arquitectos, the avantgarde building has received a number of national architecture awards, including Premio de Arquitectura FAD 2001, Premio Obra Excelente in 2001, awarded by Fomento de Construcciones y Contratas, and Premio de Arquitectura 1999-2000 by COACV.

Museo de Bellas Artes de Castellón is built around a central cloister, once part of the former Serra Espadà school, that is populated with cypresses. The exhibition rooms, defined by their double height ceilings, appear to sit one of top of the other, leaving empty space around them. The façade has been clad in die-cast aluminium sheets.

The mission of the museum is to conserve, exhibit, educate and research the artistic, historic and cultural memory of Castellón. In addition to the exhibition spaces, there is also a space dedicated to archaeological and prehistoric restoration and research.

The museum also has a collection of oil paintings from Zurbarán’s workshop, which were bequeathed by the Real Convento de Monjas Capuchinas de Castelló. It also hosts temporary exhibitions and regularly runs cultural activities to promote culture in the city.

Museo de Bellas Artes de Castellón is a Site of Cultural Interest.
