Discover the heritage of Les Coves de Vinromà on a getaway packed with history.

Iglesia Parroquial de la Asunción, La Asunción Parish Church, located in Les Coves de Vinromà in the province of Castellón, is one of the most iconic landmarks in the county. Construction began in the late 18th century to replace the old church, which was no longer big enough for the growing population.

The church beautifully embodies the transition from late Baroque to Neoclassical academicism: a Baroque-inspired façade contrasts with an interior of classical restraint.

Notable features of La Asunción Parish Church include its salon-style layout with three equally high naves, a crossing topped with an octagonal dome (without a lantern) and a series of side chapels.

Despite the damage sustained during the Spanish Civil War, the church still houses Neoclassical altars, relief sculptures and a valuable collection of gold and liturgical ornaments. Plan a getaway and discover this historic gem in the heart of Les Coves de Vinromà!
