Take in the diverse scenery as you wander along the 5-km Belcaire Blue Trail through charming nature that will steal your heart.

Discover the stunning natural beauty of Sendero Azul Europeo del Belcaire, Belcaire Blue Trail, in Moncofa, recognised in 2017 as an official European blue trail thanks to its incredible local ecology. This 5-km coastal walkway is a local hiking gem that skirts the Mediterranean shoreline along unspoiled beaches, crossing sand and grassy terrains. From protected dunes to the European pond turtle reserve, you are guaranteed to enjoy every second of your journey along this nature path.

Having recently been redeveloped, the Belcaire Blue Trail now includes rest areas, outdoor classrooms and improved signs to guide you along the path. Venture over the wooden bridge that crosses the mouth of river Belcaire, the home for many aquatic birds and a winter refuge for migratory birds. Fall in love with the Flora del Estanyol Micro-reserve as you reach the last leg of your journey.

There’s a great variety of creatures living here, from storks to swamphens and protected species such as the silenee Cambedesessi which inhabits the micro-reserve. Soak up the relaxing atmosphere in the ecological rest area on the north bank of Belcaire, with native trees, diverse flora and small forests surrounding you. They even have eco-friendly bike racks where you can park your bicycle as you chill out.

The Belcaire Blue Trail, from north to south, stretches from the Belcaire dunes to the naturist Beniesma beach, passing the river mouth, the European pond turtle reserve and the rest areas dotted along Belcaire. Beniesma watchtower and the Estanyol dunes won’t fail to astound. And when it comes to the many beaches to choose from, you’re spoilt for choice as you’ll find both rocky and sandy bays lining the coastal walkway.
