Visiting Torralba del Pinar, in Castellón, in the region of El Alto Mijares, is to be surrounded by the spectacular landscape of the Natural Park of Sierra de Espadán. Come and discover its fountains, viewpoints and ancient constructions in a getaway full of surprises. Take note!
What to do in Torralba del Pinar
To begin with, we will enter the Traditional Historical Center of Torralba del Pinar, with medieval origins and narrow streets. There are still some traces of the wall, and centuries-old buildings with corrals with pointed arches, perhaps the old fish market was located here!
Also, include in your list of things to see in Torralba del Pinar the Parish Church of the Transfiguration, from the 18th century, and the public washing place. The latter is perfectly preserved and is located next to the fountain and trough of Santa Barbara.
We move away from the urban center of Torralba del Pinar to discover the small and charming Hermitage of Santa Barbara, or you can head to the Mirador de Torralba! The surrounding area is full of fountains and trails to fall in love with, as well as centenary cork oaks.
We encourage you to visit the ruins of Villahaleva Castle, a medieval fortress on top of a hill, and also the settlement of the same name. Another interesting excursion can take you to the Archaeological Protection Area Alto de San Cristóbal, or to the Morrones de Gil. This scenic enclave is a mass of stone at the foot of which there was a disappeared mercury mine.
You can also walk in search of the springs of Montalbana, del Río, Macasta... Or be amazed by the landscapes of the Santa and La Pineda hills! Finally, we suggest you rest in the recreational area that has been enabled next to the Fuente de Santa Barbara. Your day discovering Torralba del Pinar will have a great finishing touch!
