Wander the streets of Vilafamés and discover all the history that is still very much alive in inland province of Castellón.

Conjunto Histórico Artístico de Vilafamés, Vilafamés Historic Artistic Site, will transport you to incredible places and extraordinary views. To start, the castle and the walls, complete with towers, have been listed a Site of Cultural Interest.

Vilafamés has a long history, which you can see at El Tossal Cave, where anthropological remains dating back 80,000 years have been found. In the centre, there are plenty of exceptional churches for you to visit.

Vilafamés Historic Artistic Site will take you on a journey through the history of this wonderful destination in inland province of Castellón. The layout of the streets show two different areas: the upper part with its narrow zigzagging streets; and the lower part with its linear streets shaped by the lay of the land.

In terms of buildings and monuments, La Asunción de Nuestra Señora Parish Church, which dates back to the late 16th century, is worthy of note.

The church houses a number of remarkable works of art, including the 17th century high altar, paintings by J. Oliet in the Communion Chapel as well as ornaments, gold pieces and Valencian ceramics.

18th century San Miguel Chapel is also worth a visit, as is Roca Grossa. Looking like it’s about to slip at any moment, this huge rock will get you reaching for your camera. As it has countless others that have visited Vilafamés.
