What to see in Alcudia de Veo in 2 days: Veo, Benitandús and the castle
You’re sure to be impressed with the beauty of the natural scenery in Alcudia de Veo.
Located in La Plana Baixa in the province of Castellón, the village is snuggled in the heart of Sierra de Espadán. On your first day, we recommend doing some hiking to explore some of the prettiest spots, like the leafy cork forests, gorges with crystal clear waters and natural viewing points where you’ll enjoy breathtaking vistas. There’s no lack of enchanting things to see, like the old farmhouses, hidden fountains and small waterfalls, which are the perfect spots to take a break and connect with mother nature.
The municipality comprises three villages – Alcudia de Veo, Veo and Benitandús – each of which has its own identity and charm, and all of which are held in the embrace of spectacular scenery. By virtue of this, Alcudia de Veo is the perfect destination for anyone craving nature, peace and quiet, and rural charm.
To enjoy all of this, you can embark on a 12 km circular trail which is of intermediate level of difficulty. The route will firstly lead you to Órganos de Benitandús nature area, a unique rock formation that will leave you lost for words. You’ll also pass by Benitandús reservoir and the villages of Veo and Benitandús.
Once you’re back, and if you’ve still got some energy, we’d encourage you to go and see the ruins of Alcudia de Veo Castle, an Islamic fortress affording incredible views.
What to do in Alcudia de Veo in 2 days: Jinquer
And that’s not all you can enjoy in Alcudia de Veo. On your second day, you can do some more hiking, this time to Jinquer, an abandoned village that has got magic in the air. On this walk, you’ll also discover some of Alcudia de Veo’s war heritage sites.
The route is about 10 km long and is of intermediate level of difficulty. Jinquer is topped with a spectacular castle seemingly growing out of the rock. It’s a joy to visit as time seems to have stopped here. Don’t forget to visit the old church – the atmosphere here will make an impression on you. On the way back to Alcudia de Veo, you’ll have the opportunity to see some old trenches.
