What to do in Albaida in one day: town centre

Albaida’s sights tell us what this corner of La Vall d'Albaida was like centuries ago, through ruins such as its fantastic medieval walls. This construction has been integrated into the town’s architecture, leaving traces of its presence such as its four towers and four gates.

One of these gates is located right next to our next stop, the Castle-Palace of Milán de Aragón. This magnificent fortress is open to visitors, and it5s interior houses the first of the town’s three fantastic museums: the Albaida International Puppet Museum. Here you will find puppets of all kinds from far-flung corners of the globe. Young and old alike will love this place!

To round off your tour of the town, you should stop off at the Parish Church of the Assumption of Our Lady and the town’s beautiful hermitages. In the church, you can admire the work of one of our most renowned artists, José Segrelles. A visit to his House-Museum completes the first stage of our itinerary of places to see in Albaida in one day.

What to see in Albaida in one day: the history of the Campaners d'Albaida

Albaida is known for the bell ringing by hand in the Assumption of Our Lady Parish Church, a tradition that is now UNESCO-protected. The Campaners d’Albaida (bell ringers of Albaida) carry on a tradition dating back eight centuries, during which the bells have always been rung by hand. Listen to their spectacular art and learn a thing or two about their incredible history!

Visit Albaida and its surroundings

There are still loads of things to see in Albaida in one day! Or you could spread this itinerary over a whole weekend. This will give you more time to explore the town’s environs and explore the ruins of ancient Albaida Castle. This 8th-10th-century fortress is sited atop a hill and the views from here are simply stunning.

You can also visit the Covalta, where a moderately difficult hike rewards you with the ruins of an Iberian settlement. Or you could sign up for the Séquia del Port historical route. This itinerary takes you through one of Albaida’s most stunning landscapes, following the course of an ancient irrigation channel dating back to the 8th century. You can also visit the pretty hamlet of L'Aljorf!

Along the way, you encounter old mills and waterwheels, more irrigation channels, shady corners and breathtaking landscapes. You are also within easy walking distance of other towns like Atzeneta d'Albaida and El Palomar. What are you waiting for? Come exploring!
