What to see in Castelló

During your time in Castelló, you will discover that it still has streets lined with traditional farming houses. The top floor of these, known as the andana, was used for silkworm cultivation. The buildings date to the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries, and in one of them you can take a look around an interesting ethnographic collection.

Things to do in Castelló include stopping off at La Asunción de Nuestra Señora Parish Church, which dates back to the 15th century, though it has been renovated on different occasions. La Aurora Chapel sits on the same plaza as the church.

We’d recommend walking to Santo Domingo College, an Old Convent in the neo-Gothic style, with clear influences from Art Nouveau. Lastly in the centre, you can visit the Municipal Market, opened in 1928, and Santa Bárbara Parish Church.

Next on your list of things to do Castelló is to visit the ruins of El Castellet, an old Muslim fortress next to which you can see the remains of a settlement dating back to the Bronze Age. Another walk for you to enjoy is in La Font Amarga nature area, which has a recreational area that makes the ideal spot for a picnic. The plant life here has great environmental value.
