Catadau: Discover What to See
Located in La Ribera Alta in the province of Valencia, Catadau is a village whose streets are filled with beautiful buildings steeped in history. Come with us to discover the main sights and get ready to explore a new and fascinating destination.
What to see in Catadau
To start your explorations in the centre of Catadau, you simply have to visit the ruins of Catadau Castle. In reality, you can see the remains of towers and curtain walls integrated in an old property on calle Castell. Afterwards, we recommend taking a look at San Pedro Apóstol Parish Church.
This 18th-century place of worship has a long history, as it stands on the site of an old church which in turn sits on the foundation of an old mosque. The church is built in the neoclassical style and houses fascinating 19th-century carvings, along with a 1700 monstrance and a priceless 18th-century embroidered chasuble.
On calle Sant Roc de Catadau, you will come across a lovely ceramic altarpiece dating to the late 19th century, which is dedicated to Sant Roc. And this is not the only point of interest for you to enjoy. You can see, for instance, the Catholic Social Centre, an art nouveau building, in addition to a number of properties with beautiful façades.
If you enjoy hiking, make sure to embark on a trail in Catadau. You can walk in the direction of the small chapel dedicated to Santa Bárbara, which sits atop a hill, or to Catadau Refuge, nestled between two ravines in El Arrastrador nature area. This is a great trailhead for incredible walks.
