La Font de la Figuera’s La Dansà is a traditional dance that is a sight to behold.

A long-standing tradition in La Font de la Figuera, La Dansà – The Dance – dates all the way back to the 18th century. Listed a Festival of Provincial Tourist Interest, the festival is a highlight of Valencian heritage. This stage of the event is picturesque Plaza Mayor where the magic starts with the entrance of the "Els Gegants i Cabuts" (Giants and Big Heads), followed by locals wearing traditional dress. The parade continues with the majestic presence of the "Cap de Dansà" (the Head of the Dance) and the elegant "Regines de La Dansà" (Queens of the Dance) who are accompanied by their Ladies in Waiting. The dance partners parade around the square twice to the beat of traditional music before La Dansà begins. A highlight of the celebration are the energetic "seguidillas". The dance partners, standing three metres apart, dance to the beat of the clarinet and drum, amazing the audience with their grace and skill. Around 120 dance partners, wearing traditional local dress, take part in the synchronised dance, creating a visual spectacle that will enchant you.

La Font de la Figuera’s La Dansà is not only an example of a tradition that is very much alive, but also proof of the vitality of local culture. Since its beginnings in the 18th century, the festival has been preserved until the present day thanks to the love and devotion of the local community. Every year, La Dansà draws in audiences from near and far, keen to enjoy the music, dance and beautiful local dress.
