What to see in Petrés

Petrés has a Cultural and Historic Tour, which you can follow to discover the most important sights in the village as well as examples of its hydraulic architecture. There are information panels positioned at places of interest so you can learn more about them.

A good place to start your explorations is San Jaime Apóstol Parish Church, which has a lovely façade and dates back to the 18th century. In the area surrounding the church, you’ll see traditional one-storey properties with their characteristic wooden doors and grilles on the windows.

On Concepción street you can see the old oven and the Coat of Arms of the Los Aguiló, the Lords of the Barony of Petrés, on an old façade. Not far from here, you will see another historical building: the olive press.

After, we recommend heading to Petrés Castle, a 14th century Islamic defence building that is arguably the biggest attraction in the village. A little further away is Santo Domingo Chapel, a lovely place swept up in beautiful scenery.

Next on your list of things to see in Petrés is the fascinating hydraulic heritage sites, which comprise cisterns, irrigation canals and water dividers. These sites are interesting to see and will give you the opportunity to soak up the beautiful light that characterises Petrés’ landscape: the plain extending to the Sierra Calderona and Sierra de Espadán mountains and the banks of the river Palancia.

Come and discover this part of El Camp de Morvedre on an incredible getaway. From here, you can also visit other impressive places like El Garbí Viewing Point. Start packing your bags and come and unwind in the Region of Valencia.
