Sant Llorenç chapel in Tavernes de la Valldigna is a small place of worship enveloped in the most beautiful scenery.

Sant Llorenç chapel is located in Paraje de San Lorenzo, an area of natural beauty in Tavernes de la Valldigna. Affording views over the fields and towards the sea, the landscape is populated with pine trees. Follow Camí del Racó de Joana and you will soon find yourself standing in front of the pretty chapel close to a recreational area complete with picnic tables and paelleros where you can cook up a paella en plein air.

The present-day chapel was built to replace another that had to be pulled down to make way for the Mediterráneo motorway. The small rectangular building sits on a small platform. It has a tiled gable roof and three buttresses on each side wall. The rectangular windows are covered with bars.

The façade is topped with a small triangular pediment and bell dated with the year 1913, which is thought to be the year it was made. There are three steps up to the main door. Above the entrance you will see a ceramic panel depicting San Lorenzo, the saint the place of worship is devoted to.

Every year on the 10 August – San Lorenzo day – there is a pilgrimage to the chapel. To celebrate the occasion, there is a porrat, a market whose stalls draw in crowds year on year. Come to Sant Llorenç chapel to visit the small place of worship and enjoy time in the great outdoors surrounded by beautiful native plants.
