Research on these archaeological remains has concluded that these constructions form part of the ancient Islamic city structure, dating back to the 10th century.

Over time, Elche's walls and towers were gradually integrated and reused in a city that underwent remarkable growth. Two old cisterns were also discovered, one of them dating back to the mid-18th century, built using wall debris.
