Sitting in the heart of La Nucia, San Rafael Chapel is a place of worship steeped in history that is much loved by the locals.

Ermita de San Rafael, San Rafael Chapel, popularly known as La Capelleta, sits on a vast esplanade in the midst of palm trees and vegetation in the centre of La Nucia. Enjoying a slightly raised position on the intersection of carrer and travesía de la Ermita, the chapel is one of the best loved and most iconic sights in the destination. San Rafael Chapel was built in 1888 to replace the previous chapel, dating back to at least the early 19th century, which was demolished to make space for the construction of a road. Ever since, the chapel has been renovated and refurbished. Nowadays the area around the chapel has gardens and recreational areas that will get you reaching for your camera. Don’t miss it. Nearby, you can visit coastal destinations like Altea and Benidorm.
