Iglesia Parroquial de la Asunción de Nuestra Señora, La Asunción de Nuestra Señora Parish Church in Penàguila, is a history-steeped building that is well worth putting on your to-visit list for this part of the province of Alicante. First constructed in the 14th century, the church was later renovated in the 17th and particularly 18th centuries. The Baroque style façade dates back to 1775.

The church has a rectangular plan with one nave. The simple and sturdily built belltower was added in the 17th century. The high altar holds a special place in the congregation’s heart as it was built when Penàguila local Joaquín Company was archbishop of València.

La Asunción de Nuestra Señora Parish Church has a number of chapels, notably Virgen de los Dolores chapel, which is defined by its Neoclassical style.
