Mil Palmeras Beach, in Pilar de la Horadada, Alicante is one of the area’s most accessible beaches for visitors with reduced mobility—and also one of the liveliest, thanks to its range of fantastic facilities. There’s a children’s play area to keep the little ones happy, sun loungers when you fancy doing absolutely nothing, and even the chance to hire small boats for a bit of fun on the water. Come summer evenings, the seafront promenade really gets going, with an artisan crafts market that carries on well past midnight—perfect for a wander after dinner. And it’s not just a one-season wonder: from September to December and February to May, there’s a free programme of activities for all ages, from kids’ clubs and skating to zumba, aerobox, tai chi and yoga.
