Come and discover one of the Region of Valencia’s most distinctive seasonal landscapes. Experience the beauty of orange trees in blossom.

As the warmer weather arrives, the landscape begins to change. The scent of orange blossom fills the air, which tells us that the orange blossom season has reached one of its most magical moments. Here’s everything you need to know to enjoy this fleeting spectacle, which perfumes the landscapes of Castellón, Valencia and Alicante.

When is the best time to see orange trees in blossom?

Orange trees usually blossom between March and April. It’s the perfect time to explore what to see in the Region of Valencia if you love nature and photography. Walking beside an orange tree in blossom is a sensory experience that, for us, truly captures the spirit of Mediterranean spring.

Where can you enjoy the citrus landscapes of the Region of Valencia?

Orange groves across Valencia, Castellón and Alicante offer unforgettable routes. For example, you can wander through the surroundings of the fortified town of Mascarell in Nules.

In Carcaixent, the well-known Orange Route awaits, while the Marina Alta is perfect for getting lost among terraces of citrus trees. Don’t miss the chance to photograph the citrus groves of the Region of Valencia under the Mediterranean’s golden light. These landscapes also make wonderful outings for families looking for things to do with children.

What agrotourism activities can you enjoy in the Region of Valencia?

There are plenty of activities in the Region of Valencia connected to our agricultural landscape. You can stroll along historic irrigation channels and past pumping engines that once powered the fields, or visit local cooperatives and markets to buy freshly picked oranges. After all, you’ll find some of the finest oranges in Spain here!

How can you identify a high-quality Valencian orange, and how should you store it to keep it fresh for longer?

A good Valencia orange can often be recognised by its weight—a sign it’s full of juice—and by its smooth, glossy skin. The best way to find them is by visiting local markets and asking about their origin.

At home, keep them in a cool, well-ventilated place, and avoid sealing them in plastic bags, which trap moisture and can make them spoil more quickly.

Which varieties of Valencia oranges are best for juice and which are best for eating?

If you’re looking for oranges from Valencia to eat fresh, Navel varieties are ideal thanks to their sweetness and lack of seeds. For freshly squeezed juice, varieties such as Valencia Late are particularly prized for their high juice yield and balanced citrus flavour.

Come and experience orange trees in blossom in the Region of Valencia, and plan a trip where gastronomy, landscapes and tradition take centre stage.
