Description: During the Spanish Civil War, the Villas of Benicàssim were requisitioned by the Republican
government and used as hospitals and logistical centres to care for wounded soldiers from the International
Brigades and the battles of Teruel and Madrid. Voramar Hotel also accommodated renowned war
correspondents such as Ernest Hemingway and Martha Gellhorn, one of his partners and widely regarded as
one of the world's first female war correspondents. Their turbulent relationship will guide us through a unique
tour of the Villas, revealing a fascinating chapter of Benicàssim's history.
