Discover the municipal washing places in Caudiel, a village that still conserves these vestiges of a different society.

In Caudiel you will find 3 public washing places that are still in a good state of preservation today. These washing places are an example of heritage of enormous value that reflects the customs and habits of a society that is not so distant, but which has evolved a lot.

For several centuries, the washhouses were a meeting place where people could socialise, spread the news, talk to other neighbours and, of course, clean their dirty clothes when washing machines did not yet exist. They were located in the areas of the village where the water flow was most generous.

When you visit a washing place you can imagine the women arriving laden with their baskets, although today they have become a place of tourist interest where you can learn, observe and get to know how life was decades ago. Practice rural tourism!

In Gaibiel Street in Caudiel you will find a washhouse that was built in 1929 and later restored in 2000 by the Tejavana Workshop School. It has a rectangular floor plan and is made up of 5 natural stone masonry arches with a wooden framework and a roof of ceramic bricks and curved Arabic tiles.

Another washhouse is located in Pelayo Street and was refurbished in 2018 to repair small damages and take care of its image. The last of the three can be found on Puente Street. With a simple route you will be able to see them all, are you up for it? Caudiel is waiting for you!
