Key features of the parish church of la Asunción de María and bell tower in Cervera del Maestre

With its plain, restrained façades, this church that you have to see in Cervera del Maestre, is notable for its main Reconquista-style doorway, featuring a semicircular arch and finely worked voussoirs. The rectangular layout follows a Baroque style, with several side chapels and altars, including the chapel of the Communion, which houses the altar of the town’s patron saint, the Verge de la Costa. At the west end of the church, elements of the original structure have been preserved, such as crossed ribs with a central keystone.

Inside this monument in Cervera del Maestre, particular attention is drawn to the chapel of Sant Antoni, which contains the sculpture Crist Jacent, a realistic work by local artist Agustín Ballester Besalduch. The church also preserves a 17th-century silver processional cross, along with various chalices and reliquaries kept in the sacristy and used on special occasions. All in all, it's a meaningful place for discovering the history and religious heritage of Cervera del Maestre.
