Salto de la Novia (literally meaning ‘the waterfall of the bride’) is a cascade that falls into a pool of water enveloped in the most verdant plant life. The water comes from Las Salinas gorge. The waterfall is named after events that happened during the Second Carlist War. One evening, a young man and woman met, promising to see each other again as soon as the war was over. The woman’s family, nevertheless, had other plans and intended her to marry a young man from Cirat. As she was making her way back to the village, the group ran into the Carlists, among whom was her young lover. Shots were fired and the young man was killed. Meanwhile, the mule carrying the young woman fell off the waterfall. From this day, it has been known as Salto de la Novia.

A great way to explore this stunning scenery is by taking the Salto de la Novia walk. Once you reach the waterfall, you can treat yourself to an icy dip in the waters. Come along to inland Region of Valencia and enjoy all the natural wonders you’ll find here.
