Come and soak up the splendour of this spot by the Mediterranean.

The Reserva Natural Marina de la Sierra d’Irta, Sierra d’Irta Marine Nature Reserve, between Peñíscola and Alcalà de Xivert–Alcossebre, in Castellón, protects a marine area of outstanding ecological value beside the Sierra d’Irta Natural Park.

The area is characterised by low to medium-height rocky cliffs and natural formations of pebbles, shingle and sand, creating a continuous and well-preserved habitat.

The Sierra d’Irta Marine Nature Reserve is home to rich marine life, including species important to local fishing, all sustained by the natural balance of the ecosystem. In addition, the area is used by small-scale fishing fleets from nearby ports, which continue to follow traditional, environmentally respectful practices, helping to ensure the conservation of this valuable natural heritage.

Along the shore, you’ll find beautiful, unspoilt coves nestled among rocks, with views of the foothills of the mountains. It's a fantastic place to explore and enjoy the Mediterranean at its most natural.
